“A Clean Slate”

Psalm 51:10

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

It’s a new year! It’s a new day! For many, the year 2012 was very challenging and hard. A lot of us couldn’t wait to arrive in 2013. Each year, we hope for a better one than the previous filled with happiness, prosperity, good health, and success.  All of these things are good and it’s nothing wrong with believing God for each to come to pass, but oftentimes, how many times do we think about going a little deeper beyond the surface?  It is God’s desire to bless us with all great things, but do we EVER ask him to check our hearts?  Do we ever judge ourselves about the evil nature that still exists in us, even after salvation? Are we being totally honest with ourselves about our transgressions, or do we simply sweep them under the rug and appear like we have it all together? Acknowledging our authentic nature is truly a hard pill to swallow, but how are we to grow if we don’t tackle the issue head on?  The sad reality is that most of us want the blessings, but not God.  We want the total good life, but we don’t want to change. God is an awesome God and it’s SO much more He wants to do in our lives, but we are the hold up! We are quick to look at what everyone else is doing but constantly turn a blind eye to the baggage that is deeply rooted within us. In this new year, God is looking for some people who are willing to put down their ulterior motives, let go of their grudges, and operate in the spirit AND in truth.

Psalm 51:11-12

11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

Starting on today, make up in your mind to start afresh.  Go to God in prayer and ask Him to remove all the evil ways and reveal the unknown that can potentially hold you back.  Don’t bring a heart full of  unforgiveness into the new year.  The easiest way to pollute your anointing is to harbor strife and bitterness deep inside.  The longer it stays, the more it will destroy you.  Ask God to remove lying, lust, and jealously out of your being.  We can cover up those bad habits to look good in front of others but God knows all and sees all.  The only way to overcome is we have to go after God like never before.  The next time you want to curse someone out who offended you or plot a revenge on that person who hurt you, turn the other way and run to God.  We have to get to the point where we throw up our hands and say, “not my way but yes to Your will and to Your way!”  Once you make that drastic step, life will never be the same! The devil will constantly try to taunt and get us to fall back to our evil nature.  The best way to tell if the sensitivity of God is still in you is through conviction.  Do we ever feel any guilt or remorse from doing something we know that does not please God? It’s a very dangerous thing to freely sin and don’t feel bad about doing it at all. On this NEW day in this NEW year, we can start all over and do it God’s way. Return to Him while there’s still time.  He loves you and is waiting with open arms!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Draw nigh to God and He’ll draw nigh to you.
