“Wait for Peace”

“Wait for Peace”
February 8, 2012

Hearing from God is something I continuously find myself struggling with.  As I speak with others around me, I learn that I am not alone when it comes to hearing God’s voice.  There is a constant struggle between my feelings and desires versus God actually speaking to me.  Often times we manipulate our own selves into believing what we WANT is in fact God Himself speaking to us.  A sure way to know whether God is speaking to you is the sense of peace you will receive, that only comes from the Lord.

Psalms 85:8 (NIV)

I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants-but let them not turn to folly.

We are to listen to what God is saying in our lives, with expectancy in our hearts.  When God is truly speaking to us, He provides us with internal peace to confirm that the voice we are hearing is truly from Him.  Satan cannot give us peace when speaking to us.  When we try to figure things out ourselves with our own reasoning we cannot find peace either.  The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace (Romans 8:6).  Joyce Meyer says it best, “If peace cannot hold its weight against the guidance you have heard then don’t proceed with it.  It is not our obligation to explain to anybody why we may not have peace over a situation when they question why we have or haven’t made a move as yet.

Something to think about:  Wait on the peace that only God can provide before you act on your feelings alone.  “Peace is confirmation that you are truly hearing from God and that your timing is right to take action.”  Be Blessed blog readers!!!
