“Give the Holy Ghost Free Course”

“Give the Holy Ghost Free Course”

I have a secret.  I can be an aggressive driver.  I won’t call it road rage, but if you scoot in front of me on the highway and then drive 5 miles below the speed limit, I may just have to flash my lights or honk my horn until you move out of the way!  But, day by day I’m learning speed limits are meant to be followed (who knew?) and other drivers are not secretly plotting to make me late to my destination (although sometimes it feels that way).  Still, I literally want to throw a fit when I hit a traffic jam on the highway.  And, did you know the Holy Spirit feels the same way? In this message my Pastor explains that the Holy Spirit gets just as irritated when we jam our lives with work, appointments, and meetings.  The Spirit of God, which lives on the inside of every believer in Jesus Christ, needs to be able to flow.

Take some time to clear the clutter out of your life.  Satan will try to put so much in our lives, including people, that our Spirits can’t breathe.  Bishop urges you to watch who you hang around and who you listen to.  There are people who can get in the way of where you’re going and the plans God has for your life.  Simple advice — hang around people who love God!
Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Take a well for example.  When you prime the pump on a well, the water is there even though you may not see it.  And, once the water comes up, the force grows stronger and stronger until the water basically gushes out.  That’s the way the Holy Spirit wants to be in your life-  free and flowing!  He can take a bad situation and make it work for your good.

Romans 8:28 (NIV)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Something to think about: Is there anyone in your close group of friends who is more of a stress in your life, than a blessing?  You may have to leave what you have in order to get what God has for you.  Many times this struggle is simply preparation for greatness.  The Holy Spirit is trying to get you there.  Let Him take the lead and flow in your life.

  1. “But day by day, I’m learning that speed limits are meant to be followed (whoknew?)” lol you are so funny! But this is true and so very important. I used to be like this on the road until God slowed me down…”it took quite a few tickets” lol, but I’m so glad he did. We miss so many things when we hurry through life and never take any time to relax.
There is a saying that goes “you are who you hang around”. I believe that we take on characteristics, mannerisms, and even traits of the people we hang around. Guilt by association is a sad reason not to make it to Heaven.
