“Your Reasonable Service”

“Your Reasonable Service”

I love the lyrics to the song, “Praise is What I Do.”  The first verse is this:

Praise is what I do
When I want to be close to You,
I lift my hands in praise.
Praise is who I am,
I will praise Him while I can.
I’ll bless Him at all times.

And, just as the words describe, praising God is much more than a song.  It should be who you are.  In fact, you can worship God wherever you are and in whatever you do!   To me, worship is anything that you do to show your love for God.  And, it says in the Bible, worship is simply a “reasonable service” to the Lord.  Co-Pastor bases the message on this key scripture:

Romans 12:1 (NIV)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship (or “this is your reasonable service,” according to the King James Version).

We worship God and offer our reasonable service because of His mercy.  He is ready to forgive us as soon as we ask.  He blesses us even when we don’t deserve it.  And, He loves us even when we don’t show Him love.

Romans 3:23 (NIV)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Understanding God’s mercy is the key to freedom.  If we don’t know the truth, we can’t be free. If you need healing in your body, you can be set free.  If you need to stop a drug addiction, you can be set be free.  If you need guidance to hear God’s voice, you can be set free.  Heartache, shame, unforgiveness – the Bible says we can be set free from every pain and sin through Jesus Christ.  So, how do you do it?  Believe that the word of God is true and apply it to your life.  It’s that simple.  When you keep your mind stayed on Jesus, you can have perfect peace no matter what craziness may be going on in your life!  (You can find more on this topic from a previous post titled, “Freedom & Identity.”

Something to think about: Whatever the situation in your life, it’s not too late to turn it.  Just grab hold of the truth in God’s word!   There is no hurt He can’t heal.  There is no problem He can’t fix.  There is no situation He can’t control.  Jesus died once and for all
