The Bible tells us that the steps of a good man are ordered by God.  But, how can God direct our steps if we don’t follow his direction?  Listening to God’s voice is the simple way to do this. Obedience is more important to the Lord than sacrifice.  Obedience requires trust and commitment.  Minister Madrine uses the example of Issac to illustrate this point.

Genesis 26:1-6 (NIV) Isaac and the Famine
Now, there was a great famine in the land — besides the earlier famine of Abraham’s time — and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Phillistines in Gerar.  The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live.  Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you.  For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and I will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.  I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees any my laws.” So Isaac stayed in Gerar.

Minister Madrine also shared her personal testimony.  She and her family came to the U.S. from Africa with only one suitcase. She dealt with many challenges once she moved, especially with providing dental care for her family.  One needed procedure costs $10,000, but it wasn’t long before God blessed her with a new job and free dental insurance.  Before Min. Madrine left Africa, a friend took the time to share Isaiah 45 with her.  (Read it here) And, since that time, she’s always held onto those scriptures which detail how God provides for his children. Stick to the word of God.  The Lord answers prayers and He shows up on His own time.  We must be obedient, so that when Jesus comes back He’ll find us in action working for him.

Matthew 24:44-46 (NIV)
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.  Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?  It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.

Something to think about: There is a blessing tied to serving God.  Serving God is an act of obedience to His word and an expression of our love for Him. Serve God full time if you want full benefits.  A part-time job doesn’t provide benefits!  God works the same way.
