“Live By Faith”

“Live By Faith”
Bishop Daniel Robertson, Jr.
Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries

“You’re in denial!” “You’re being irrational!” “You’re not making sense!”  – Some call me crazy, but I call it faith.  I love talking about faith because I’m learning faith is what triggers God to move in our lives.  Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines faith as the firm belief in something for which there is no proof; complete trust; or something that is believed especially with strong conviction.  It’s not easy to believe in something when you don’t see it.  That’s why it takes practice or what I like to call “faith projects” – believing God for something and praying until it manifests here on earth.  God wants us to put our faith in Him.  Start out with a small desire or need, step out of your comfort zone, and confess out loud that you are believing in God for the solution.  As Bishop explains, Christians must live by faith.  There are no other options according to scripture.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God (the Bible).

Romans 1:17 (NIV)
For in the gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

In fact, this same message is expressed again in the New Testament.  If it’s written in the Bible twice, I think that’s a sign it must be important.

Galatians 3:11 (NIV)
Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, “the righteous will live by faith.”

Faith should inspire you and encourage you!  Conjure up some dreams.  Write down your visions.  Our faith is in God and He can do ANYTHING.  It’s time to be provoked.  Don’t be an average Christian.  I like that saying, “Go hard or go home!”

The Lord loves to take an unlikely people and bless them.  It’s just like the children’s tale of the rabbit and the turtle.  The rabbit thought he had it made because he started the race so fast.  But, the turtle won the race because he kept going.  He was steady.  Is your faith steady? Is your faith consistent?  You can consider life on earth like a race, too.

Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

This entire 11th chapter of Hebrews shows God’s amazing track record when it comes to faith.  You can read it by clicking this link.  It’s encouraging to hear how the Lord came through for other people because it means He can do the same for you.  That’s why personal testimonies can have such a powerful impact on someone’s faith.

God wants to show off in your life.  The more faith you have in the Lord, the more miracles He can perform.  In the same way a door won’t open unless you turn the knob, God can’t move in your life unless you turn your faith on.  Confess your desires to Jesus and speak them out loud everyday.  The process gets easier, the more you do it (just like exercising, lol)

Something to think about: Don’t worry about those who doubt you or the things you are believing God for.  Those critics will be the same ones who witness the blessing when it comes.  The Lord loves to show up in difficult situations, just to show everyone how awesome He is!

  1. Amie…Thanks for your notes on Faith. Really need it at this time. Our church is going through some difficult times and some of us have made the mistake of shifting our focus from God to our painful circumstances. My prayer is,
“God, I don’t understand why but I have faith that you will see us through”
Reading your notes have strengthened my belief and given me the “Go Hard or Go Home ” attitude.
    Keep up the good work.

  2. I’m glad the message is offering some encouragement. I think many of us can relate to what you are asking God for: faith to go on even when we don’t understand our current circumstances. I will continue to keep you and your church family lifted too!

  3. Thank you for this. The words of encouragement has helped me!

  4. Thanks for your words on faith, at times it is easy to doubt, worry, and try to figure things out on my own (which never works). I am suppose to TRUST God and expect that He will bring me through because He always has and always will. Thanks!
