Freedom & Identity

“Freedom & Identity

Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries

Who are you?  If you had to answer this question in 3 words, what would you say? I could say New Orleans native or Howard University graduate, or local television anchor.  It’s all true, but is that really who I am?  Sometimes we look to places, organizations, or professions to tell us who we are, but there’s more to it than that.  God took the time to carefully and meticulously create you before you were even a thought to your parents.  He took 6 days to create the world and 9 months to create you — that should tell you something right there.  You are God’s creation, so it is impossible to know who you really are without having Him in your life.  The E.D.G.E. (Excelling and Dominating God’s Earth) College & Young Adult Ministry took over service tonight (with Bishop’s permission, lol) and ministered through a drama presentation along with a powerful word from members, Connie and Corey.

Freedom (Sis. Connie)
When you have Jesus in your life, there’s no reason to feel bound in sin.  God made a way, so that we could all have freedom.

Romans 6:10-11, 22 (NIV)
The death he died, he died to sin once and for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.  In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus… But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

Identity (Bro. Corey)
Your freedom and your victory is tied to your identity.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

The enemy will try to do anything to prevent us from realizing this scripture.  His mission is to steal, kill, and destroy.  That’s why parents must teach their children about who they are in God’s Kingdom – a wonderful creation and hand-picked by the Lord.  If children grow up not knowing who they are, they’ll turn to the world in search of their identity.

Something to think about: When it comes to knowing who you are and why God made you the way He did – ask yourself this question:  What is it about me that the devil fears so much?  Then, ask God to develop those characteristics already in you.  He wants to build up His Kingdom and you play an important role in the process!

  1. I want to be part of that Kingdom…..My role is to love everyone no matter how hard it may be at times. I just have to constantly say to myself Love is GODs and the only real requirement for salvation.

If you can love you will keep his commandments #ItsThatSimple

Great blog……keep up the great work!

  2. Rashan, thanks for your feedback. Learning to love like Jesus is so important as we strive to be more like Him. I hope you continue to let your love shine!
