“Calm Under Pressure”

“Calm Under Pressure”

Do you ever notice how some people seem to remain really calm under pressure?  President Barack Obama is the first person who comes to mind.  Remember this cover from Ebony magazine?  I just love it!  The photo illustrates his cool and collected demeanor.  And, we all know being President of the United States of America is a high-stress job!

Tonight’s message deals with how to stay calm under pressure.  Jesus never hits the panic button.  Our Lord and Savior is calm because He already has the victory.  And, so do we.  As Christians, we are His children.  We have dominion on earth!  That’s why Satan’s master plan is to steal, kill, and destroy.  His daily agenda is to fill our heads with lies because  if he controls our thoughts, he controls our lives.

The only way to remain calm under pressure is to guard your thoughts and anything that may influence your thoughts.  Be careful of the people you let into your inner circle.  Be careful of the music you listen to.  Be careful of what you watch on TV, especially before you go to sleep.  The enemy will try to seep into our thoughts and dreams anyway he can.  That’s why everyday we must determine how we are going to feel and proclaim positive thoughts!

Philippians 4:4-6 (NIV)
Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Something to think about: Don’t be anxious about anything.  There is no problem God can’t fix.  While you wait for your blessing, find something to thank God for!  Do you have a safe place to sleep at night?  Is there food in your refrigerator?  Can you walk and talk?  We can’t take these things for granted.  There is power in your praise!
