“His Purpose, His Plan, His Destiny… Only Believe”

“His Purpose, His Plan, His Destiny… Only Believe”
15th Pastoral Anniversary
Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries

This week my church is celebrating the 15th Pastoral anniversary of our wonderful leaders, Bishop Daniel Robertson, Jr. and his wife, Co-Pastor, Elena Robertson.  Wednesday night service was a real treat!  After a special performance by the Fine Arts Ministry, three church staff members ministered to the congregation:  Darla Strickland, Elder Kathryn Nelson, and Exec. Chef, Shannon Davis.

“Your Spiritual Position”
Darla Strickland

Isaiah 60:1-2 (NIV)
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.  See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

Let’s take a look at three spiritual positions: ¬†revive, awaken, arise

If you have fallen asleep as a believer, you can be revived. ¬†We all go through seasons where we may seem asleep, but Jesus can revive us. ¬†According to the dictionary, revive means to return to a healthy vigor. ¬†But at the end of a revival, what do you do? ¬†Then, we must move to awakening. ¬†We must awaken to a deeper truth to who Jesus really is. ¬†Awake means to become alert, to be active. ¬†When you’re awaken to God, you make Him your top priority. ¬†Then once you’re awake, arise. ¬†This is the glorious hour of the church! ¬†The word of God is true, but we must arise and take territories. ¬†We must let the light of Jesus shine in us, so that others may see it. ¬†Who is going to gather at your light?

“My Keeper”
Elder Kathryn Nelson

Psalm 121: 7-8 (NIV)
The Lord will keep you from all harm– he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

We’re going to focus on the word, “keeper.”
Definitions include to provide the necessities of life, to cause them to continue, to preserve and protect, to remain fresh and unspoiled, to continue in an action, to maintain good condition, to hold for a special purpose.

Bishop Robertson, Jr. has been a keeper of the Mt. Gilead family. ¬†When God brought him and Elena together, He had a special purpose: Mt. Gilead. ¬†And, the Lord is the ultimate keeper! ¬†He kept Elder Kathryn through the death of her child, 20 years of a hellish marriage, her new husband’s deployment overseas, and moments of sexual temptation.
God has preserved all of us and He can keep us fresh and unspoiled. ¬†He’s keeping us for a special purpose!

Executive Chef, Shannon Davis

We all go through a process to help us believe and strengthen our faith.
When you become a believer, it’s not easy – some of your ways must change. ¬†Even Jesus had to go through a process – He had to be crucified. ¬†All of us have to go through our own “crucifixion.”

Philippians 3:10-11 (NIV)
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Sometimes, God will set up experiences so that the only person you can call on is the Lord.  We have to grow up and realize that challenges help us through the process for the plan God has for our lives.  We think satan is always attacking us, but God allows us to go through tests to strengthen us.
