“The Power Within You”

“The Power Within You”

We have God-given power within us! We have supernatural power!  We have resurrection power!  But, it’s up to us to use it.  Our desire should be to be a disciple for Christ, not just a Christian.  We can’t just talk the talk, we have to walk the walk.

Romans 8:11 (NIV) And if the spirit of him (Holy Spirit) who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

We have to learn how to overcome adversity.  Think about sports and even VCU and their historic journey to the Final Four. Most teams that win come from behind.  It’s called momentum!  Do you have it?

Matthew 14 (NIV) John the Baptist Beheaded
(verse 11-14) His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother.  John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it.  Then they went and told Jesus.  When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place.  Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Can you still function during heartache?
Jesus was able to feed the crowds even while he was grieving the death of John the Baptist.  Despite his own feelings, he took care of the crowd of people who came to see him, multiplying the food and ending up with more leftover than what was there at the beginning.

(verse 19-21) And he directed the people to sit down on the grass.  Taking five loaves and two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.  Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.  They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.  The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Something to think about: You must learn how to identify with your own Spirit, with the Jesus that lives within you. It’s just like a Rubix cube.  The enemy only wants you to see one side of yourself- the physical side.  But, the Holy Spirit allows you to see every angle: mind, body, spirit…  The enemy (satan) never wants us to recognize who we really are.  He knows that if that’s the case we’ll be able to do things in the supernatural and maximize the God-given power we have inside of us.
