How to Defeat the Enemy

“How to Defeat the Enemy”

Everybody goes though some type of attack because of the spiritual battle between good and evil, God and Satan.  So how do we deal with this?

Ephesians 6:12, 16 (NIV)
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against… the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil… to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

The enemy tries to stop us by hitting us in the head.  He gets to us through our thoughts.  It is the enemy’s job to slow us down and make us quit.  But, we must remember that we control our attitude.

John 14:1 (NIV)
Do not let your heart be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.

In order to defeat the enemy:
* We must have a prayer life.

Matthew 14:23 (NIV) Jesus Walks on Water
After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.

* We must Praise God (even for the small things!)

A dash of salt can make a big difference when cooking.  In the same way a small blessing from the Lord can make a big difference in your life, so give Him praise for it.

* We must be more concerned with our purpose:

This means we should spend more time developing the gifts/visions God has placed in us through the Holy Spirit, then on what’s happening around us.

Something to think about: God gives us many ways to defeat the enemy: We do it through prayer, praise, and developing our divine purpose in life.  The devil is a spirit, so he tries to attack us with thoughts.  When a negative thought comes to mind, replace it with a positive one.  We must train our minds to think a certain way and continue to trust the Lord!
