“Casting Down Imaginations”

“Casting Down Imaginations”

Don’t let the title of the message fool you (or as I like to say, “Don’t get it twisted!”)  This message is not urging you to stop dreaming, but instead to realize the devil is after your dreams, your ambitions, and your thoughts.  That’s because our thoughts have the power to change what we believe.  Every thought is not pure and imagination is a very powerful thing.  So, if you’re trying to live holy be careful what you watch and who you listen to.  Don’t entertain thoughts that are contrary to Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

(verse 5 in the KJV version:  5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ)

* The key is discipline- that’s when you make yourself do something no matter what to receive a desired result.

* Our brain controls everything in our natural body.  For example, in a boxing match, if you’re going to knock someone out you have to hit them in the head.  In the same way a boxer protects his head, we must protect our mind. Watch what you expose it to.  Be careful who you allow to influence you!  You have to place yourself in the right environment in order to grow, just like a seed.

Matthew 13:3-8 (NIV) “Parable of the Sower”
Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow….Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants…Still the other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop…”

Something to think about:  Who or what influences your thoughts?  God often speaks to us through other people, but don’t forget the devil does too…
