And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men ~Colossians 3:23

Just as our muscles, organs and skin are connected to form our body; we too are all connected together as one to form the body of Christ.  If our lungs decided not to do their job, it would affect our body as a whole.  Same thing goes for us, if we do not do our part in God’s will, it affects the whole body of Christ; God’s Ultimate Blueprint.

Exodus 2:1-10 exemplifies Miriam doing her part in God’s Ultimate Blueprint.  Miriam’s mother had just conceived and given birth to a beautiful son.  During this time, King Pharaoh created a law that required every born son to be cast into the river (Exodus 1:22).  Because of this, Miriam helped her mother take care of and hide the baby for three months.  Miriam’s mother could no longer hide her son.  She decided to place him in a basket and set him near the edge of the river, covered with slime and pitch to prevent water from entering the basket.  Being the protective and loving sister that she was, Miriam followed closely as her brother went down the river.  Soon after as Pharaoh’s daughter was bathing by the river she came across Miriam’s little brother.  She instantly had compassion for him as he wept.  Miriam being there to do her job approached the king’s daughter and asked if she would like a nurse of the Hebrew women to take care of the baby boy.  Miriam came back with her mother and the king’s daughter ordered that she take care of the child (her own child) and be paid for doing so.

Here’s the amazing part of the story.  As the child got older, he was brought to Pharaoh’s daughter, and became her son, where she then named him; Moses!!!  Yes, the same Moses who grew up to be the man who freed the Israelites from being slaves in Egypt, and the one who also brought us the Ten Commandments.  Although Miriam job as a protective older sister seems small, it was very vital in God’s Ultimate Blueprint. Imagine if Miriam did not do her part in protecting Moses, all of the miracles used through Moses may not have happened.

Something to think about:  Be proactive in doing your part in the body of Christ.  Being a part of God’s plan is a blessing within itself.  Sometimes we may not ever see God’s Ultimate Blueprint in certain situations, but the times that we can, you can’t help but be amazed by the way God works.
