“Pregnant with a Promise”

“Pregnant with a Promise”
Elder Juliette Davis
The Promise is not only His word, but also the individual things that God has spoken to each of us that is connected with our Kingdom Assignment.  In order for us to birth those visions and dreams, we must become pregnant in the Spirit!
John 3:5-6(NIV)
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.  Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit…”
This birthing is not the “natural” kind.  It applies to men too!  When you’re saved, you’re born again in the Spirit.  This is a prerequisite for having a spiritual pregnancy.
John 6:63 (NIV)
The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts nothing.  The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are light.
* Be fruitful and multiply also in the Spirit. It’s time for us to dominate!  Wherever you work, there should be some multiplication going on.  Are you helping others become better children of God?  Spiritual birthing is a process just like it is in the natural.  If there is no process, there will be no multiplication.
* We can’t operate on emotions.  We have to die to our flesh in order for God’s will to be done.  Sometimes we get in our own way!  We have to stop even when we’re tempted- that’s what it means to die in the Spirit.  ”Not my will, but thy will be done.” – Jesus had to die in the Spirit before He died on the cross.

Stages of spiritual pregnancy & birth
1) Conception- impartation of God’s promises.
There are some things that take place when God imparts His vision in you.  There are going to be days when you feel like giving up, but it’s the promise He gave you that will remind you of the end result- He has a plan for your life!  For conception in the Spirit, the environment must be right.  It takes an atmosphere of faith.  Believe that God is who He says is.
2) Transformation – an outward demonstration of an inward change- just like when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.
Everybody’s transformation looks different.  Praying and fasting is part of the preparation – that’s why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations.
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
3) Waiting/Trust
Waiting- this is what will test your faith.  Once the promise is first delivered we’re excited, but what about the time that goes by before it all comes to fruition?  It’s the anointing that keeps you during the wait.  Waiting is not just marking time, it’s doing things to perfect what God is doing in you.  Waiting puts weight on the promise.
Trust- Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thy own understanding.  The same God who blessed you is the same God we have to trust.  You have to decide that God is who He says He is. Don’t let the Devil get you caught up in doubt and unbelief.
4) Birth position – when it’s time, you have to get in position.  Women go into labor  when the baby is no longer comfortable and is ready to be born.   In the same way, it’s time to give spiritual birth when God allows your environment to become too uncomfortable.
1 Samuel 1:5, 7 (NIV) story of Hannah who was not able to conceive and Peninnah who was like a “fertile Myrtle”
The birth position is a position of prayer.  It was through Hannah’s prayer that God was able to take control.  He wants us to make our requests known to Him.
Something to think about:  Prayer is so important to completing your spiritual birth.  It is like the umbilical cord between us and heaven.  We must pray in order to remain strong in God. Prayer changes people, places, and things!  There are things that God wants to do here on Earth.  Go to God in prayer in order to birth out those visions and dreams.  Without it, you’re bound to have a spiritual miscarriage.
