“Take Time to Plan”

“Take Time to Plan”
Bishop Daniel Robertson, Jr.

God took time to plan every detail of your life. It’s all written out. You could say the Lord had 9 months while you were still in your mom’s womb to map it all out : )

If God took the time to carefully weave the details of your life together,  stop believing that ironic experiences are just coincidences — Everything happens according to God’s will.

Psalm 139:16 (NIV)
Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

Just as God took careful time and preparation to plan our lives, we should give our dreams and goals careful planning and attention.

* Planning takes time
Just like a tree needs time to take root and grow, so do your ideas and dreams. Just like an apple tree, some dreams may need to be in the planning stages for 3 years. A lot of people become so excited to start something new, but they don’t take the time to establish it. You have to spend more time with something that needs to grow. For example, parents spend every waking moment with their newborn baby because at this early stage the child needs a lot of attention.  The devil will try to distract you from doing what God has called you to do (clouding you thoughts like, “oh, I’m too busy” or “I never have time for that”) but don’t let him trick you. We make time (some how, some way) to do the things we want to do.

* You need people around you that believe on you.
It’s important to surround yourself with those who will encourage you, not bring you down. Remember, the crabs in a barrel scenario? Some people closest to you may not have your best interest at heart.  So, be careful who you allow in your inner circle.

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Something to think about: Planning sometimes forces us to change.  But, if you think about it — the only time you truly grow is when you’re uncomfortable with yourself! (We are our own worst enemies, right?). Embrace the planning process. Whatever dream you have- set aside some time to plan out your vision. No one else is going to do it for you!

  1. By far, one of my favorite notes. This message is right on time for me, especially now determining career/educational plans for the future. “Something to think about” really spoke to me as far as ME taking a risk, stepping out of my comfort zone, & relying fulling on God to guide my future.
