The Bible is full of descriptions of God’s miracles — I’m sure you’re familiar with a few:  the Lord parting the Red Sea and Jesus turning water into wine… but His power didn’t stop after the biblical ages.  God is still performing miracles today! He has the power to heal sick bodies and set souls free from pain, addiction, and guilt.

At church, service was a little different. Instead of listening to a sermon, Bishop invited people in the congregation to share a personal testimony on how God recently performed a miracle in their lives. Last Sunday many people were healed from sickness and pain after Bishop invited those in need to come to the alter. He laid hands on them, prayed for them, and then let the Holy Spirit do the rest. More than a dozen members shared amazing testimonies about how the Lord healed them during and after that service.   One woman was cured from back problems, another man was healed from a coughing spell that had been going on for weeks.  It brought me to tears.

I’ll share one testimony with you. A young college student described the struggles she was having with her health. For weeks she had been battling bladder infections. It got so bad, the infection spread to her kidneys. Just using the bathroom brought her excruciating pain and irritation. Doctors prescribed multiple pills, but the problem continued to get worse. She became embarrassed and didn’t tell anyone how awful she was feeling- not even her mom. Well, last Sunday when she got to church she told her mom to pray for her because she needed to be healed. Needless to say, the alter call at the end of Sunday service was an answer to her prayers. As she walked back to her seat, she felt the irritation go away. And at Wednesday service she confirmed that her infections are all gone! What made this testimony so special is that she was spending the summer at Norfolk State University and recently had some interesting debates with fellow students about God and whether or not miracles exist. At the time, she couldn’t boldly discuss the Lord’s miraculous power because she had never experienced it for herself. But after her bladder situation, she says she’s 100% sure that God is still in the miracle working business and she plans to share her testimony with friends.

Something to think about: Miracles take faith.  Faith is not believing that God can, it’s knowing that He will. And some healing miracles take patience.  This is something I learned after hearing a word from Evangelist, Marilyn Hickey.  Miracles don’t always happen right away.  Sometimes healing can happen in an instant, but in many cases it may take weeks, months, even years before God moves.  Just keep trusting Him. If He performed a miracle in somebody else’s life, the Lord can definitely do it for you!  And when He does, remember to give him all the glory.

  1. I believe that miracles occur all the time. God may not perform them when we want Him to, or when we think He needs to. He does it when He knows it is time and when He knows we’ll be open. I know it’s so hard to wait, but if we’re strong and secure in our Faith, God and the Holy Spirit will move whatever mountains we face. :)
