“Thanksgiving”

In everything, give God thanks! God is hungry for praise. He created the world for praise with various musical instruments and even our voices.

Psalm 103:1-3 (NIV)
Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.

Psalm 105:1-2 (NIV)
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.

* It’s your approach. We must reverence God. The Lord is high and lifted up. Don’t come to church service for entertainment. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, enter His courts with praise! During praise and worship, think about ALL of the things God has done for you, both big and small. Don’t take Him for granted. And, don’t just worship Him in church – Praise and worship has to be a lifestyle.

* Let God know you appreciate Him in advance!  When you do that, the devil doesn’t know what to do! Your bank account may be at $0.00 now, but thank the Lord for how He’s going to provide for you next month! The devil may tell you it’s not going to happen, but praise God for your future – this will energize your faith!

2 Chronicles 20:17-19, 21 (NIV)
(King Jehoshaphat has 3 different armies coming after him, so he goes to God in prayer. Here’s what God says to him and the King’s reaction):

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you. Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel with very loud voice…. After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army saying: “Give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever.”

* God never does just one thing. Whenever you ask God for something, He’ll do that thing and then some! There’s no problem He can’t solve. If God is for you, who can be against you!

Something to think about:  Don’t just praise God when He does something for you- praise Him just for who He is: the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the Most High!  Learn how to lead with praise and thanksgiving – this should come first in everything you do.
