14th Pastoral Anniversary

14th Pastoral Anniversary
Elder Johnson, Elder Thompson, & Minister Bell
Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries

Tonight’s service was a special treat as we celebrated the 14th Pastoral Anniversary of our Bishop and Co-Pastor. Three leaders of our church came together and preached on the 3 scriptures that make up Psalm 133. It was absolutely awesome!

“Unity”
Elder Sundra Johnson

Psalm 133:1
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!”

We should be flowing in harmony, feeding off of each other, supporting each other just like an orchestra. We have different spiritual gifts, but when we come together we should be able to flow perfectly.

We need to make sure we’re united today. Take note of this special 14th Pastoral Anniversary. 14 is a derivative of 7 which means perfection. So, we are expecting double the faith and double the glory.

We have to get in line and get in position. That includes leaders because the oil (anointing) flows from the head all the way down: from Bishop to our church leaders to our members.
It’s time for us to grow up and mature. If we get on one accord there is nothing that will be impossible. No cracks in the foundation- we will be tightly knitted together so that we can all flow in the gifts that God has put in us. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

“Where is Your Oil?”
Elder Eric Thompson, Sr.

Psalm 133:2
“It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on Aaron’s beard, running down upon the collar of his robes.”

When they anointed the priests with oil it represented the anointing/vision of God. Here’s a breakdown of how the anointing flows:
Head = set man of God (Pastor)
Beard = Elders, Overseers (leaders)
Skirt = body at large, (church members)

Where is your oil? It started off pure because it game from God. Maybe it got lost with the Elders because they didn’t run with the vision, they casually walked with it…took their time. Maybe it got caught up with the members- are you plugged into the vision? Membership has its privileges. It gives you access to the vision. You can’t access the anointing if you’re not plugged into the ministry.

“A Commanded Blessing”
Minister Margie Bell

Psalm 133:3
“It is as if we dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”

How can I get a blessing to come over my life? You must do what is required – spend time with Jesus. Do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ? We must remember the source. Bishop is our Pastor, but not our Lord. Don’t go to Bishop for blessings, go to God. God is God all by himself. We must be in agreement with God in order to receive blessings. We *respect* Bishop and Co-Pastor, be we *worship* God! When you rely on a person, you aren’t relying on God. Blessings come by obedience, not by hanging on some one’s coat tail. A commanded blessing does not come with strings attached. It comes with no paper trail.

Something to think about: Take time to thank God for the spiritual leaders and mentors in your life. Who has left the biggest footprint along your Christian journey? Don’t take them for granted. God has placed them in your life for a divine purpose, so appreciate them.
