If you’re going to be a Christian, you have to be willing to be like Christ. God won’t enrich you, unless you fall in love with Him first.

Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Sometimes we lose sight of who we’re working for and we don’t understand what it means to be a disciple. We are part of the Lord’s army. We can’t be a Christian when it’s convenient. To put it plainly, we can’t be lazy and be blessed. We have to be “sold out” for the Lord just like the gospel song describes. We have to forgive others – that’s what Jesus was about. What if God remembered everything bad thing we ever said and held it against us?

As Christians we WILL experience challenges, but that’s how our faith grows. As soon as things get hard, we want to cry. Can you make it without any friends? Jesus did on his way to the cross.

When you become a Christian that means you are a child of God. The Lord brags on us just like parents do with their children. He wants the world to know who we are and whom we represent. We are striving to be Christ-like. What kind of heart did Jesus have? One full of love. Love covers a multitude of sin. We must be careful not to hold grudges against others. Too often our feelings/emotions keep us from loving people the way Christ did. We have to be willing to take some stuff and keep moving.

Something to think about: Sometimes God will put difficult people in our lives to perfect us. Being a Christian takes work and it’s a growth process that never stops. But remember, only what we do for Christ will last. Keep Him first in everything you do!
