Daniel 3:16-17 (NIV) – Story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to rescue us from your hand, O King.”

* The 3 Hebrew boys were confident that God would come to their rescue. They could be bold with the king because they had an intimate relationship with God. The boys knew what the Lord was capable of doing. Their mindset was, “what can I do to convince the king that there is a God who rules over him?” Their confidence provoked God! They refused to bow down to the gods made of gold. They wanted God to get the glory.

* God can’t show His power unless you give Him the opportunity. That means sometimes we have to go through trials/bad experiences, so that others may see God’s power in our lives and know that it was nothing BUT God that brought us through.

* Don’t have confidence in the world’s system, but rather the “Word system” (the Bible). Whenever things aren’t going right, that’s when Satan will try to get you to compromise your faith and doubt God’s ability to help you through a situation. When your flesh is weak, that’s when you become the most vulnerable. But, don’t give in.

Something to think about: Is there a reward for living holy and refusing to compromise? Is there a reward for having confidence in God? Yes!!! There is unexplainable joy and peace in knowing that God is in control of our lives. Trust Him.
