Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

* God knows our future. Therefore, He knows what we need in order to fulfill our divine purpose. You may have a spiritual gift, but you don’t have the anointing that goes with it. And, without God’s anointing, the gift won’t work to edify His Kingdom.

* Many of us don’t want to be corrected. We want to use our gift without the proper training. We must submit to someone in order for our spiritual gifts to be pulled out- that’s why having a Pastor and spiritual mentor is so important. You need someone with great experience. If you’re called to preach, you should spend time with a preacher.

* Love is the key to mastering your spiritual gifts. If you don’t walk in love, you’ll mess up the flow of your annointing. Maturity is necessary too because we can’t let pride get in the way.

1 Corinthians 13:11 (NIV)
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.”

* Developing your spiritual gifts is a process!  Here are some real-life examples:Pure diamond

Example 1: a diamond
You can’t get the brilliance out of a diamond until you cut it, but you have to know how and when to cut it.  Unfortunately, we often run from correction and the people who are trying to make us better.

Example 2: a pencil
It’s dull unless you sharpen it. Like a pencil, we require sharpening in order for God to use us properly!

Example 3: pregnancy
When a woman is pregant she doesn’t immediately have the baby. It’s a 9 month process. Both, mom and baby go through transition and change. As the baby changes inside of her, so does she.

Something to think about: If we could see the future plans God had in store for us, we probably wouldn’t be able to handle it.  We’d likely get intimidated by God’s awesome plan for us or get impatient for the future to hurry up and get here.  Have patience through the process you may be going through and trust God.  Find comfort in knowing that you are like God’s precious diamond or baby — and He is preparing you… molding you… grooming you, so that you can one day use the wonderful gifts He placed in you to bring Him glory!
